So, without further ado, let’s get straight into the blog.
Step-by-Step Instructions For Double Chocolate Mug Cake Recipe
So, move these aside. This is gonna be like the least professional blog you’ve ever seen. This is like the first website blog. I post on this site. So, we’re gonna start with our flour, our cocoa powder, and our salt. And we’re just gonna whisk these together until they’re nice and combined.
And if you don’t have vanilla, in this case you could swap it out for espresso powder. Or yeah, you can swap a few things here.
So, here I am writing a website blog. You don’t even care, guys. It’s called… stop, okay?
So, we’re gonna set this aside and get ready with our next ingredients.
So, in this bowl we’re gonna combine our milk, our egg, and our vanilla. And we’re just gonna whisk. I’m gonna use a fork.
I’m gonna make sure you got a good quality egg. If you don’t, you’ll notice chunking and clumping with your wet ingredients, and you don’t want that. That’s gonna make a disgusting cake. So, you want to make sure you’re using good quality eggs because last time I tried this recipe and tried to write a blog, it literally ended up looking like rice in my wet ingredients. And I had to completely stop the write blog and couldn’t finish my cake.
So, make sure you’re using some good quality eggs.
Then we’re gonna take our butter and add this to it. Then the sugar. And then you just want to whisk it until it’s nice and smooth.
Also, I’m gonna not pause this video at all. So, you guys will see the real amount of time it takes to film this. So yeah. And also, don’t mind the mess in the background. At least in this video I have bowls there. So, you’ll see them in a few of my videos.
Okay. So, as you can see, this is nice and thick. So now we’re gonna add our dry ingredients. I’m gonna add half at a time. Got a little bit.
I’m going to switch over to my whisk. It’s just a little bit easier to use. And now that works fine. If any ingredients aren’t fully combined, it doesn’t matter because we’re gonna end up adding more anyway.
So, we’re just gonna add it in. And again, this is a mud cake. This makes two cakes.
Okay. So, it’s nice and smooth. We’ve got our cake batter ready, and it’s time to microwave it.
So, we’ve got our mug here. You just wanna make sure it’s nice and clean. There’s just a little butter in it. Sorry guys, I’m a little shorter.
Spread it out a little. You really don’t need that much because you’re gonna be eating it in the mug. Again, this makes two mud cakes.
We’re just gonna pour this into our greased mug. And you only want to fill it up about halfway because it rises a lot in the microwave.
So, you want to microwave this for about one minute, depending on the wattage of your microwave. And yeah, try not to eat the batter.
So, we’re just gonna sprinkle some chocolate chips on top. Then we’re gonna microwave this for one minute. And again, I’m not gonna pause this, so you guys have to see the full time of this.
Oh my God. My mom made peas on the stove, and I put it on the wrong element. So, the wrong element was turned on. I just literally…
Okay, sorry.
But yeah, this is really super simple. You have to put all the ingredients in separate bowls. And I was like, geez, they are just baby blenders. So, that’s why they have smiley faces on them. So, don’t worry.
Okay. It’s got 15 seconds left. And then I’m just gonna take out a toothpick so we can test the cake.
Oh my Lord. If only you guys could see this. It rose so much. It was literally up to like here. I’m not kidding. It was so high.
So, we’re just gonna poke this with it. See? It’s nice and clean.
We get to taste it.
And you could totally sprinkle this with powdered sugar. I think it just makes it look nice and cute. And you could take an Instagram picture.
I don’t have any right now, but I believe you guys have a few Instagram accounts in this kitchen that I want you guys to go follow. Show them some love.
Mmm… so good.
Be careful because it’s really hot.
Here is the inside of my cake. It looks so cute. That’s tasty because I’ve never actually tried this before. So, I really hope it turns out.
Can you see that steam? It smells really good. It does look a little dry, but can you guys see all the chocolate chips there?
He loves sweets. Like, he’s obsessed with them.
How’s that?
So, that’s the end of today’s blog. If you guys enjoyed it, make sure you give it a big thumbs up and comment below.
Again, comment #ChocolateCake for a shout-out in my next blog.
Simple Baking Tips Every Beginner Should Know
Read the Recipe Before You Start
Before you begin, take a minute to read through the entire recipe. Gather all of your ingredients and equipment first. This makes the baking process much smoother and helps you avoid forgetting an ingredient halfway through. A little preparation goes a long way and makes baking much more enjoyable.
Measure Ingredients Carefully
Baking is all about balance, so measuring your ingredients correctly is important. Use measuring cups and spoons for the best results, and level off dry ingredients like flour and cocoa powder instead of packing them down. Small changes in the measurements can affect the texture of your cookies, cakes, or cupcakes.
Keep an Eye on Your Bake
Every oven and microwave is a little different, so don’t rely only on the timer. Start checking your recipe a minute or two before the suggested baking time. Look for signs that it’s done, like lightly golden edges, a set center, or a toothpick that comes out clean. Watching your bake closely is one of the easiest ways to get great results every time.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I use all-purpose flour instead of self-rising flour?
Yes, but you’ll need to make your own self-rising flour. For every ⅓ cup of all-purpose flour, add about ½ teaspoon baking powder and a small pinch of salt. Mix well before adding it to the recipe.
2. Can I make this mug cake without vanilla extract?
Yes! If you don’t have vanilla extract, you can use a little espresso powder instead. It adds a richer chocolate flavor without making the cake taste like coffee.
3. How do I know when the mug cake is done?
The cake is ready when the top looks set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Depending on your microwave, it usually takes about 1 minute.
4. Can I add extra chocolate chips?
Absolutely! Sprinkle a few chocolate chips on top before microwaving. They’ll melt into the cake and make every bite even more chocolatey. You can also add chocolate chunks if you like extra gooey pockets of chocolate.
